Hidden voids inside walls, ceilings, roof spaces and façades can act like chimneys in a fire, carrying flames and smoke unseen from one part of a building to another. Cavity barriers break up those voids and keep fire contained.
Survey and identification
We survey existing cavities and wall build-ups to identify where barriers are needed by design, regulation or good practice, and highlight barriers that are missing, damaged or incorrectly installed.
Supply and installation
- Tested cavity barrier systems, typically mineral fibre and/or intumescent, to the required fire performance.
- Barriers in cavity walls, ceiling voids, roof spaces, façades and around openings.
- Careful attention to fixing, continuity, junctions and corners so there are no weak points.
- Alignment with compartment lines and coordination with fire stopping and fire barriers.
Supporting compliance
Correctly designed and installed cavity barriers are a key part of building regulations compliance and the building's overall fire strategy. As with all our work, every barrier is recorded and documented for handover.
